Institute of Vocational Training (AKMI)

AKMI was founded back in 1989 and today is one of the leading Vocational Training Institutes in Greece providing post-secondary education. Every year, approx. 3000 students are enrolled with the aim to study one the 96 specialties offered.

AKMI is the leading VET provider in Greece, providing its services to thousands of students in numerous fields. Its department of Technical Professions stands out for the quality of provided education and the linkage to the industry, holding the first place in VET.

The courses are recognized by the Ministry of Education and meet European standards. AKMI has invested in the best infrastructure possible for the related fields of study and uses new technologies in the educational process. The main aim of AKMI is to provide high quality educational services in a wide variety of field of expertise including new fields and areas, so as to ensure timely matching of labor market needs by highly trained professionals. AKMI’s strategy includes continuous education and training of its teachers, aimed at updating their knowledge, as well as keeping them up to date with best practices in VET at European level.

Berufsförderungswerk der Bauindustrie NRW gGmbH (BFW-NRW)

BFW-NRW is a training centre specialized in vocational training and continuing education as a non-profit-institution for the initial and continuing training of workers in the construction industry. Is a daughter organisation of the association BAUINDUSTRIE NRW and has connections and influence on politics in vocational training, companies, the construction industry and vocational schools in Germany and works on national and international projects that are supported by companies in the construction industry.

BFW-NRW has 3 inter-company training centers for the construction industry, the centers are equipped with generous training facilities to teach employees in the skills needed as the professions that are in demand in the construction industry, such as workers, clerks and technicians. Participants in seminars and training courses may stay overnight in our guest houses and are provided with food in the canteens that are part of the training centers.

Bildungszentren des Baugewerbes e.V. (BZB)

BZB is multifunctional facilities for the 48 building trade guilds in the district of Dusseldorf, composes by 2.000 construction firms and is closely dedicated to company needs, making visible any needs and gaps of professional competences in the construction, leading to the design of appropriate and tailor-made learning arrangements.

All their training activities are focused on construction market requirements, the immediate and lasting dialogue with the companies, balancing the training needs and thus the design of appropriate and efficient VET.

Assist SMEs in developing a strategy in keeping staff in the company by career paths for staff, structured further training of already skilled workers and attractiveness of the work places in order to attract apprentices and to committing people to companies.

Task are the initial vocational training for apprentices in the 15 occupations of construction as well as continuing training for higher professionals. Co-operation with German Labour Agency in the field of demand driven retraining of people. BZB run 4 branches and participate in numerous projects. These projects are of regional, national, EU and International scope. On the EU level, realize numerous exchange programmes for apprentices, trainers and VET-Expert, mostly with partners in the European network RE.FORM.E BZB are certified by DIN ISO EN 9001 and run a Technology Transfer Office. BZB executes various IT- and pilot-projects with innovative and trend-setting impact.

Comité de Concertation et de Coordination de l’Apprentissage du Bâtiment et des Travaux Publics (CCCA-BTP)

CCCA-BTP is a professional organisation in charge of coordinating apprenticeship in construction which leads 118 training centers offering alternance training, in charge of implementing the professional policy specified by main employers and employees representative federations at national level. French government is also represented within the Board Committee. Offer VET training shared with construction companies, with 48.000 apprentices per year in all crafts and more than 1.700.000 since it was created 70 years ago.

Their aims, financed by a social fee decided by professional players and paid by the companies, are specified by the professional agreements of construction, all of them led with regional authorities which have the responsibility of organize and fund the apprenticeship:

  • Promote construction industry professions and improve its image.
  • Inform youngs and companies on apprenticeship and professional opportunities.
  • Improve the quality of VET training, social and professional integration of youngs.
  • Finance the development and the running of VET centers.
Centre IFAPME Liège-Huy-Verviers

Created 1960 as a non-profit organization, is considered as the biggest Training Centre in the Belgian French Speaking Community with 15.000 students, more than half on them following courses in “Continuing Education”, and more than 1000 certified people per year. Those activities are animated by more than 1000 trainers and 90 permanent collaborators (directors, employees, staff officers, workers).

The Center provides initial training (apprenticeship), entrepreneurship training (for people above 18 years) and continuing training (for new entrepreneurs and improvement units) to sector’s working people. Construction is one of our biggest sector and Centre IFAPME LHV is partner of “construform” which is a so called “Competences Center” for building sector, reference cluster bringing together all stakeholders at a same place. All the actors have strong links also with the regional construction chamber and meet about one a month together at the occasion of the “local committee”.

Centro de Formação Profissional da Indústria da Construção Civil e Obras Públicas do Sul (Cenfic)

CENFIC is a non-profit entity created in 1981 by IEFP (Instituto do Emprego e Formação Profissional) and 3 Building Construction’s Associations. The main activity is the development of initial and continuous training in the field of the construction crafts and construction technical areas. The expertise and activity includes:

  • HHRR training, consultancy.
  • Vocational training of company owners, managers and technicians.
  • Training of worksite supervisors and coordinators.
  • Development of capacities and skills of workers under the scope of continuous vocational training, specifically oriented to H&S as well as energy saving.
  • Initial vocational training of youths and unemployed people, in cooperation with social partners and the Portuguese Ministry of Labor, Solidarity and Social Security.

Their mission is to prepare qualified professionals in Construction Sector through the development of Vocational Training Courses that satisfy the needs and corresponding the expectations of the clients, contribute to dignify it and create qualified professionals, and promote the individual and the professional development of trainees.

Ente per la Formazione e l’addestramento professionale nell’edilizia (Formedil)

In Italy, vocational training in construction is carried out by a national bilateral training system regulated by the National Collective Agreement. Formedil is the central national organisation of this system, it is managed by social partners of the construction sector, trade unions, craftsmen association and other SME and cooperative enterprises associations. They are structured in 103 Building Schools, in 2016 realized 12.514 training courses, with 149.617 persons involved.

Their aim is to coordinate vocational training for qualification and re-qualification of young’s, unemployed and employed people in the construction undertaken by the Scuole Edili, monitor and promote the quality of training. Other structural activities are:

  • Training National DB, a tool to monitor and collect data of training courses as type, users and training hours for the traceability of training workers.
  • Certification booklet: in which each worker register their professional experience, competences and courses attended during the professional career.
  • Sectorial Repertory of skills and competence; Formedil takes care of the maintenance of it.
TUS

TUS is an institution of higher education funded by the Government and set up under Institute of Technology National legislation, has five campuses and learning centres and is member of the European Association of Universities. In their centers offers courses at EQF level 5 through EQF level 8 whilst also catering for craft apprentices and adult and continuing education, is also involved in research, development, enterprise support and is active in regional development activity.

Through its coordination of European and National Research Projects, collaborates with leading international research performing organisations and is active in a wide range of European funding programmes, has been involved in 15 EU projects since 2011 and works closely with Academic Departments within TUS to transfer skills and knowledge from projects into its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of study.

TUS has established a dedicated Development Unit within the R+D+I section, focused its activities primarily in Sustainable Energy, Social Enterprise and Rural Development.

Satakunnan Koulutuskuntayhtymä (Sataedu)

Sataedu offers high-quality education for young people for more than twenty professions, enhance professional competence for adults and offer tailored training events for entrepreneurs and enterprises. They utilizes the multidisciplinary competence and international contacts of the various fields in its internationalisation efforts. Sataedu has an active cooperation network consisting of European educational institutions, which enables mobility, international projects and on-the-job learning abroad. Internationalisation is a target-oriented and visible part of Sataedu’s operations and strategy. During the last 3 years, Sataedu has sent more than 200 students abroad and received the same number of students from partner organisations. In addition, have also taken their first steps in Education Export to China.

One of the oldest study fields in Sataedu is Construction (house builders). They methodology applied is the Work Based Learning that scope more than 60% of the studies. In addition, Sataedu’s all activities are evaluated and certified by DNV (Den Norske Veritas) in 2017 and in August 2015 Erasmus+ Mobility Charter was granted.

Šolski center Kranj (SCKR)

SCKR was formed by the merge of Technical School Centre and The Economy and Service School Centre of Kranj, has signed agreements with more than 300 companies and organizations regarding practical training. Adult education has been carried out in parallel with the regular education of young students. Content and programs have been bound to the programs of regular education and skills needed in the companies of the region. The School has 5 organizational units: Secondary Technical School (informatics, electrotechnics and mechatronics); Secondary School for Economy, Services and Civil Engineering; Specialist Grammar School; Vocational College (Mechatronics, Informatics, Electroenergetics, Economy); and Inter-company Training Centre: cooperation between school centre and economy.

The School is actively involved in projects at National, Regional and international level and is very active in the field of RES and EE. Last year, opened Haas Technical Education Center, this way we enabled access to higher quality education in the field of CNC technology for all participants of our education and partners in the region.

Viesoji istaiga Vilniaus statybininku rengimo centras (VSRC)

VSRC is an institution providing VET training for young people and adults, was founded in 1946 and is one of the main providers of quality VET training in Lithuania.

The Centre offers diverse courses in the main area of Building and Construction, is a lead institution at national level in the continuing training system of the building sector. Its main experience is the methodological expertise in life-long learning, development of qualifications and training schemes. The Centre is certified with ISO EN 9001 since 2013.

The training is performed in the workshops and laboratories equipped with up-to-date machinery and tools. All staff at the Centre have gained valuable, first-hand experience working in their chosen fields. VSRC has established close networking links with employers and local industry, which ensure that the courses prepare students for the careers they choose.

Since 1999, has been actively involved in different national and EU projects and has developed close cooperation with a number of EU VET institutions. In 2015 the Centre was awarded with the Erasmus+ Mobility Charter.
