Description

Initiative that seeks to be a meeting point where construction professionals can find training and assistance related to the BIM methodology.

Initiative created in the scope of the Fundación Laboral de la Construcción derived from the proposal of the National Construction Confederation (CNC) and the trade unions UGT-FICA and CCOO Construction and Services, to be used as a meeting point where construction professionals can find training courses, news and free advice on any aspect related to the BIM methodology.
A complete training itinerary is offered, adapted to the different professional profiles and the different phases of a construction project for which the software, currently adapted to BIM, is available.

Aim

The general objective of this initiative is to promote the use of the BIM methodology (Building Information Modelling) based on open standards, which will allow increasing quality levels, as well as reducing costs and execution times in the construction sector.
To this end, this initiative provides professionals involved in a construction project with relevant information on the BIM methodology in all its aspects and phases, to improve their skills and perform a more competitive comprehensive management of their projects.
Specifically, to achieve this goal, it is intended to:
- Create a training offer adapted to each professional profile
- Prepare a specific training offer for each phase of the construction project.
- Prepare itineraries with the training developed.
- Keep the information and the training offer always updated.
- Establish a free advice to solve doubts.
- Creation of a blog as a tool that provides added value by updating information related to the BIM methodology.

Outcomes

Impacts/Outcomes 1:
Entorno BIM has contributed to the dissemination of accurate and up-to-date information regarding the use of the BIM methodology, and has also promoted its use in the construction industry.
Numerous training courses have been delivered to all professional profiles involved in construction projects on the use of this methodology in each phase of the project.

Impacts/Outcomes 2:
The training in the BIM environment incorporate geometric, time, cost, environmental and maintenance information. This is an evolution of design techniques contributing to:
- Improve project feasibility studies.
- Facilitate communication and participation among the participating actors, which leads to improved management.
- Higher quality and competitiveness of the project.
- Reduction of risks in terms of health and safety at work.
- Reduce execution times and costs.
- Promote the renewal and industrialisation of the sector.

Impacts/Outcomes 3:
Entorno BIM is complemented with a dedicated Blog as a tool available where all those interested in the BIM methodology can obtain updated information.

Policy/Initiative

Skills Gaps:
This initiative contributes to improving the skills of all professional profiles involved in a construction project in relation to the use of the BIM methodology in the construction industry. The acquisition of these skills is necessary given their importance, because of the advantages of applying this methodology in projects.

Recommendations

Training:
All the professionals involved in any phase of a construction work or project must have knowledge of the BIM methodology, therefore they must be updated in the training corresponding to their professional category and in the phase of the project in which they are involved, especially because digital changes and advances are constant and sometimes very fast. Training in the use of computer tools is also fundamental.
In this way, the construction activity will be more competitive, of higher quality, and therefore will generate a greater satisfaction for the client.
