France: CCCA-BTP organises one-week seminar for women to raise awareness about the construction sector at the VET Centre of Lille Métropole (Roubaix)

A seminar dedicated to women took place between January 27th and 31st, 2020 at the VET Centre of Roubaix in the north of France. The event, entitled “Women in construction, let’s talk about it!”, was organised in the framework of the Women Can Build project.

The objectives consist in reducing consist in reducing cultural barriers and gender stereotypes existing in the construction sector, as well as initiating a women’s audience to the diversity of construction trades.

On this occasion, the 10 participants achieved plastering, painting, mosaics and carpentry works. 9 of the 10 volunteers came from the Establishment for Integration into Employment (EPIDE) which number one mission is to allow young people far from employment to enter a positive dynamic of integration and to make them build their place within the labour market.

All of them said they would volunteer again to renew this experience.
