BIMAlliance
Back To MapDescription
Digitalization as the accelerator of sustainable energy skills.
BIMalliance is a collaborative partnership with an EU wide reach – almost 100 partners across 24 EU countries and also partners with EU initiatives Building SMART and Build UP. The BIMAlliance will be set up in Ireland to promote and enhance Digital skills within the construction industry and consider the recommendations set out by previous EU funded projects on BIM, Energy Efficiency and Circular Economy.
Partners
Industry Champion - O’Hare & McGovern (OHMG)
Industry Representation -Construction Industry Alliance (CITA)
ROI Academia - Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin)
ROI Academia - Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT)
NI Academia - Ulster University (UU)
NI Academia - Belfast Metropolitan College (BMC)
International Representatives - Copenhagen School of Design & Architecture (KEA), BIMAlliance representatives
Aim
Act as a catalyst for the digital transformation of the construction sector and to initiate innovation within the sector. Whilst digitisation in the construction sector is in its infancy it can be accelerated through greater use of BIM and specifically the use of training materials and resources develoepd by EU projects and eductaional organisations.
Target Groups:
Professionals, educators, trainers, students, construction industry, SMEs, construction workers, craftworkers, public & private building owners, local authorities, policy makers.
Exchange of Experiences:
Collaborative approach with educational organisations, industry, BIM/energy experts and EU projects (BIMPlement, Net-UBIEP, BIMeet, BIMzeED, Construction Blueprint) exchanging information of training materials and expertise. CitA will promote BIM, MMC, and Tech in 16 Regional Events in 8 Counties of Ireland in 2020
Outcomes
Impacts/Outcomes 1:Promote and enhance the use of digital skills (specifically BIM) in the construction sector in collaboration with other skills such as: energy efficiency, circular economy and health & safety
Impacts/Outcomes 2:
Become the key to transforming and changing the face of our industry by sharing knowledge to best practice, inspire collaboration and showcase new opportunities in digitalisation of construction.
Impacts/Outcomes 3:
Establish a Skills Hub with the construction industry which will explore the future of skills in the built environment and the ways in which we can encourage new entrants into the industry.
Impacts/Outcomes 4:
Deliver BIM training, accreditation, and digital certification of skills alongside lean energy efficient construction and deliver an innovative EU wide BIM Passport.
Impacts/Outcomes 5:
Support Smart Construction i.e Offsite Manufacturing, Digital Technologies and High Performance Buildings and assist industry to reduce the carbon footprint of the construction sector
Policy/Initiative
Skills Gaps:Availability of on-line BIM trainings using micro-accreditation and digital certification of skills enabling the construction SMEs and workers to upskill in BIM and improving their employability.
Skills Shortages:
These training materials will enable the existing construction workforce to upskill in the understanding and use of BIM and nZEB with short micro-credited modules, enabling the collection of credits to establish a recognisable accreditation in BIM.
Other:
Awareness and collaboration of new BIM trainings and skills online or on-site for educational organisations, industry, construction sector, public sector, building owners and occupents
Recommendations
Training:Deliver on-line BIM trainings through micro-accreditation and digital certification of skills with the use of a single BIM training platform developed with materials from BIMCert, BIMPlement, Net-UBIEP, BIMeet and BIMzeED.
Mobility:
Deliver BIM training, accreditation, and digital certification of skills alongside lean energy efficient construction and deliver an innovative EU wide BIM Passport.
Other EQF-Level:
To initiate a common pan-European recognised certification scheme of BIM and EE skills in AEC industry (buildingSMART and Construction Blueprint options to be considered)
Transfer in Europe:
Establishing a common communication and collaboration platform of the 4 projects (e.g., linking their web pages; sharing information about the Alliance common work, organization of joint events, etc.), in order to provide better informing and multiple use of individual projects' stakeholders and followers.
Target Groups:
Professionals, educators, trainers, students, construction industry, SMEs, construction workers, craftworkers, public & private building owners, local authorities, policy makers.
