Funded by Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) intends to make deep renovation desirable & easier, while upskilling the industry, inform standards & develop quality data. Putting Ireland on a realistic trajectory to 2050 climate targets require a step change in the level of activity in renovation & the ‘depth’ of energy efficiency upgrades. Measures are needed to mobilise private investment, provide attractive financing options & support the industry in upskilling

Aim
Developing contractors‘ capacity for deep renovation: Making sure we have the right skills and setting the right quality standards
Developing stakeholders’ capacity and appetite for deep renovation: accelerate the rate of energy renovation and the ‘depth’ of energy efficiency upgrades while de-risking energy renovation investments
Development of energy efficient mortgages in Ireland: Enabling the role of Building Renovation Passports (BRPs)
Target Groups:
NACE F - Construction workers, craftworkers, specialised workers, building technicians, building professionals and professionals.
Exchange of Experiences:
Extensive consultation with National Upskilling Committees (educational, policy makers, professional and industry) with a collaborative approach to develop the skills and capacity for deep energy efficient renovation.
Developing the BUSApp with the Dutch centre ISSO, specifically for energy renovation trainings which will be rolled out in ireland with specific inputs from stakeholders.
Additional consultations on the viabilty and roll out of the BRPs with financial institutions, auctioneers, professionals, industry and policy makers.
Outcomes
Impacts/Outcomes 1:Identify existing trainings and establish relevant deep energy efficient renovation trainings to upskill craftworkers and professionals.
Impacts/Outcomes 2:
Develop a new role in the construction industry as Energy Renovation Advisors and Energy Renovation Workers.
Impacts/Outcomes 3:
An online self-assessment tool for building professionals and construction workers to help them identify their training needs and pathway to acquire these skill

Develop a Building Renovation Passport (BRPs) for Ireland
Policy/Initiative
Skills Gaps:Identify existing trainings and establish relevant deep energy efficient renovation trainings to upskill construction workers, craftworkers, specialised workers, building technicians, building professionals, professionals. therefore improving their employability.
Skills Shortages:
Skills shortage in advising building owners on energy related decisions and carrying out this work is not available in Ireland. Developing this new role will address this issue.
Other:
Collaboration of industry stakeholders, professional institutes, Public Authorities in Ireland, a Dutch knowledge centre (ISSO), the European Mortgage Federation and other EU funded projects.
Recommendations
Training:Identify relevant deep energy efficient renovation trainings and establish a self-assessment tool for the construction industry by identifying the areas in which they should upskill and develop a future training plan.
Career Moves:
Better training opportunities for the construction industry by developing new skills as energy renovation advisors or workers and increasing the human capital basis of its workforce and improving their employability
Mobility:
Future expansion of the new role as an energy renovation advisors and energy renovation workers on the BUSAll APP could enable mobility across Europe.
Entrepreneurship Opportunities:
Set up business opportunities as Energy Renovation Advisors
Other EQF-Level:
Existing trainings and future trainings can be added to the BUSApp with accredited EQF qualifications or as micro credits which can be added together to obtain credits and recognised by the European construction industry.
Transfer in Europe:
Existing trainings and future trainings from all countries can be added to the BUSApp with accredited EQF qualifications or as micro credits which can be added together to obtain credits and recognised by all members of the construction industry across Europe.

Other:
General improvement of the construction sector image with increased attractiveness and competitiveness. Working with other EU funded projects and initiatives.
