Description

Initiative addressed towards the development of an innovative course on energy efficient stove building to empower the stove builders with a new set of skills and competences.
The project ENEFFIS addresses the need to promote environmentally friendly and energy efficient stove building by developing a common European qualification standard and training curriculum for initial and continuous vocational education and training.

Aim

The main aim is to develop the innovative course on energy efficient stove building to empower the stove builders with a new set of skills and competences, with regard to principles and technologies related to the designing and building of energy efficient and green stoves and fireplaces fired by solid fuel.

Outcomes

Impacts/Outcomes 1:
Development of an updated Occupational Qualification Standard for stove and fireplace builders, accompanied by a modern curriculum and training/learning materials.
Impacts/Outcomes 2:
Establishing a Qualification Scheme to ensure transparency and accessibility in competence acquirement, assessment, validation and certification.
Impacts/Outcomes 3:
Delivering recommendations for normative documents on energy efficient and environmentally friendly stove building.

Policy/Initiative

Skills Shortages:
The project's outputs are focused on the target group whose needs have not been previously addressed in relation to VET provision in energy efficient stove building, namely IVET trainers and trainees.
The project complies with the EU2020 framework by developing an up-to-date VET tools for stove builders training ensuring the matching of labour market with skill requirements in resource efficiency technologies. Developing skills in environmental technologies also supports the Paris Climate Deal, the EU policies such as "Vocational education and training for better skills growth and jobs" and "The Agenda for New Skills and Jobs".

Recommendations

Training:
The Occupational Standard of a stove builder and accompanying curricula were developed taking into account the New priorities for European cooperation in education and training (Education and Training Strategy 2020), thus supporting the strategic objective of improving of quality and efficiency in education and training systems in order to strengthen the anticipation of skills needs for the labour market. In this way the ENEFFIS outcomes offer a good basis for the develoment of the national VET standards and other related documentation.
