Description

“Vies de Chantier” (“Lives of Worksite”) is a collection of 3 books published throughout the years by CCCA-BTP, giving voice through testimonies and photographs consecutively to company tutors, apprentices and trainers in construction in France. These professional life stories aim at promoting the attractiveness and excellence of the construction sector in France by sharing the field reality as experienced by the main actors of the French construction apprenticeship system. A 4th volume is to be expected in 2022, dedicated this time to the European and international mobility actors of the French construction apprenticeship system: company tutors, mobility referents, apprentices, supervisors, etc.

Policy/Initiative

Skills Gaps:
Books used as pedagogical materials during French classes so that apprentices may learn with work-situated literature close to them
Mis-Matching of Skills:
This work of observation and analysis also allows to depict a clear picture of the on-field realities of construction apprenticeship actors in France, making possible to identify the major skills mismatching between what is taught in VET Centres, what apprentices learn in companies and what the environmental and digital transitions in the sector require
Skills Shortages:
These books demonstrate the excellence and expertise of the construction sector in France and contribute to the attractiveness of the sector

Entrepreneurship Opportunities:
Provides ideas and willingness to create their own businesses
