Waste Management and Treatment
Back To MapDescription
Propose, develop and monitor the integrated management of environmental and sustainable development policies, in conjunction with other sectoral policies. Collaboration with public and private entities, with a view to provide a high level of protection, enhancing the environment and providing high quality services to citizens.
An Environment Policy must be understood as a set of principles and ideas, of dynamic design and formalization, embodied in a text that guides and frames the definition of objectives and lines of action, coherent and structured, in the domain of the environment.
In this context, the Environment Policy must consecrate its own evolution, due to the reflection motivated by the new challenges and problems. It must also strategically reconcile structural and operational problems of relevance to the environment and sustainable development.
A national Environment Policy is inseparable from the development model, especially with regard to regional balances. It must be universal, but respecting differences, in order to be applicable to the entire national territory, to most activities, organizations and companies, contributing to the full exercise of environmental citizenship.
An Environmental Policy is a benchmark for the fulfillment of the objectives, laws, rules and instruments that emanate from it, establishing the right and the duty of all citizens to participate in its construction, according to the degree of responsibility of each entity or agent.
The Environment Policy should also enhance integration with other sectoral policies, promoting and ensuring sustainable development.

Skills Gaps:Important for all construction workers to understand good environmental and sustainable management. More Environment, more Planet, more Life.
Mis-Matching of Skills:
Introducing and using alternative materials for construction will alleviate issues in burying the waste in landfill sites. Many already have skills in construction and those employed, may be directed into alternative construction professions in recycling waste, alleviating soil contamination, etc.
Skills Shortages:
Circular Economy is gaiing momentum and will require experts and understanding in this field.
Recommendations
Training:Some development of professional trainings with a lot of relevance to the issues of treatment and reuse of waste from Construction
Mobility:
Very important in the development of a professional life.
