Pedmede organises a debate on the challenges of construction skills with sectoral experts from Greece

Pedmede successfully organized a round table discussion between experts, an endorsement event entitled: ‘Skills challenges in the Construction sector’ – in the framework of the project Construction Blueprint.

The event took place online on 14th July 2021 as part of the European Erasmus+ Construction Blueprint programme, which aims to develop a new strategic approachSectoral Skills Alliance in the Construction sector.

The event attended by distinguished representatives of the political field, academics, the public, the environmental sector, representatives of social partners and key stakeholders etc., who shared their experience, good practices, opinions and proposals in order to boost the sustainability, innovation and competitiveness of the construction industry. In particular, through the three round table discussions that took place within the three subgroups (Energy Efficient, Circular, Digital Economy) in which the participants were divided, the main challenges of the construction industry emerged, towards its transition to an Energy Efficient, Circular and Digital Economy. It was strongly highlighted the need of the “re-skilling, up-skilling και cross-skilling” of the working force in the construction sector, as a pre condition for responding to the rapid revolution and adapting to the upcoming needs of the labor market.

The key findings of the discussion will provide essential input to the Construction Blueprint project, providing the framework for mapping the skills and training needs in the sector in Greece in the fields of Digitalization, Circular Economy and Energy Efficiency.

The Construction Blueprint project, in which Pedmede is involved representing the Greek construction sector, is a milestone project of the construction industry, bringing together 24 partners from 12 EU countries who will together develop the Alliance for Skills in the sector.
